It can really be a exhausting travelling with young children on a plane and even more so if your journey is a long haul one. There are many adults who find it difficult to cope with these long journeys on a plane so it is no wonder that it can be hard for kids. However for those intending to travel by plane with young children, the following tips might be of some help.
- Not only should you make sure that your childs favourite toy is with them, you should also take time to go out and get a surprise gift too. You should keep this gift hidden until you see your child beginning to get bored and then produce it as this should then keep them entertained for at least another hour.
- Make sure that you take some colouring things with you such as crayons, colouring pencils etc; you would be surprised at how long a child can colour for.
- If you are travelling long haul then you will usually be provided with a choice of in-flight entertainment but you might want to bring a protable DVD player and your childs favourite DVDs. This way your child can watch their favourite movies. But make sure that the DVD player is fully charged before you head off on your holiday.
- An iPad or iPhone will have tons of applications for children so this could be a great way to keep them quiet. These devices really are ideal for long trips.
- Older children might prefer to read a good book; you will be able to choose one together when at the airport. This is something else that can keep them occupied for almost the whole trip.
- A geography book which has pictures of different locations is a good idea. This way your kids can find out a bit more about the places you are flying over. One of the perfect choices would be a school geography book which your child might already have.
- Another way to occupy the children is to attempt to learn the language of the country you are visiting with them while travelling there.
