Day Excursions From Prague Hotels

If you’re a second time visitor to Prague then taking a scenic day trip outside of the city gives you a new perspective on the capital. With no journey taking more than three hours you’ll be back at your Prague hotels in good time.

Karlovy Vary

The best spa experience in the Czech Republic is located just two and a half hours outside the city centre and is best reached by express bus from Florenc bus station. Charles IV discovered the healing properties of the water in the 14th century. Some patients even visit the town on referral by their GP for the medical treatments that involve consumption of the water. There are also relaxing treatments, designed not to medicate but to soothe – choose from spa massages and light and heat therapy.By the time you return to your Prague hotels you’ll be so relaxed that you’ll fall asleep immediately.

Plznen Brewery Museum

If one of the main reasons for visiting Prague was the cheap beer then you must visit Plznen . Not only is the beer far cheaper in the suburbs, but the town is also the home of Pilsner beer. In the 15th Century malt-house, visitors can trace beer’s history from Mesopotamia to current day brews. If after the tour you haven’t yet had your fill of beer then you must visit Na Parkene Pub before you catch the train back. The beer served in this pub is unfiltered and reminiscent of the beer drunk in Prague over a century ago.

Kutna Hora

If you want to buy a special souvenir from the Czech Republic, then forget searching the gift shops around your Prague hotels. Instead book a trip to the 15th century silver-mining town of Kutna Hora, where the Royal Mint was established. With its entire interior decorated from human bones salvaged from the 30 years war, the ossuary is one of the town’s more unique attractions. Other attractions in the city include the Royal Mint, St Barbara Church and Cathedral of Our Lady.
